An Easter Sunday Run Across the 3 Towns of Rizal

The Lord is risen! Easter is a reminder for us Christians that the Lord died for us, has risen and won the battle for us – giving us a new beginning!

After Easter Sunday mass, I planned on running with my high school friends Donna and Rhea (or wish for Rhea). The question is, do I go and meet Donna in Morong by foot or bring a car.

At quarter to seven, I am on the road…guess I am gonna do it by foot…Wohooo…New Adventure! New Running Route.

I saw my cousin Addie as I leave the house and I asked how many kilometers to Morong. “About 5kilometers” , he said. Hmmm bitin but perfect! From there, we can go to Cardona and meet Rhea.

Baras-Morong boundary. Kilometer 1 from our House.

After 5kilometers……and….

2 dog-chasing experience….First one was practically an inch from my legs.  (I guess that was a quickly answered prayer when I said “Lord, my legs”., the dog stopped barking).  For the second one, I just ran faster!

And several greeters on the road, these are my favorites:

  • “Pahinga ka muna” – farmers along the boundary of Lagundi-Calero
  • “Go, go, go”
  • “Uy, nag-jogging”….Other person, “hindi, tumatakbo”
  • ‘Nasan mga kalaban mo?” Me-“Ako po nauuna”
  • and the best – “Uy, di ba anak ka ni Benny”…Me: “ah, opo”  “Oh, sa Mayo ha”….Can they campaign on Sunday? lol

At Martinez St. Fetching Donna. Finally, I have company.

Donna nearing the boundary of Morong and Cardona

About 6 Kilometers at the Boundary of Morong

Caution: Road under construction...have to share the ashphalt road with the speeding jeepneys for about 400 meters. I wish the sidewalks are done before May 2.

Hilly route along Cardona...a view of Laguna Bay awaits you on top

Overlooking Laguna Bay....last kilometer and we are at Rhea's place - Breakfast!

Total distance logged was about nine kilometers.  It was short of my planned distance but the breakfast prepared by Tita Cora was waiting.  It was 9:30 when we left Rhea’s place…Run back?

Rode the jeepney and a tricycle back to Baras —- wohooo!!!

I guess I’ll see this road again on May 2!

  1. Great Post. I love how you incorporate pictures. It gives me a sense of what I have to look forward to soon. Glad your Easter Sunday Run turned out great. And isn’t awesome that He arose and won the battle, and that our sins are taken care of. God Bless. Keep Posting and running the good race.

  3. Hi Herbert! Good to hear that you’re joining. Are you joining the one in MOA or The Fort. I might be at The Fort Earth Run. On running shoes, you can have your gait checked at the Fort-Runnr or at Second Wind-Ortigas Home Depot/UP Village. It depends though on what distance you’ll be running. When I started, I was fine with a regular Adidas Running Shoes…(and there was no runnr yet that time).
